Engine wash

MootoripesuClean engine is not only nice to look at but it is also practical.

Very many people do not recommend engine washing at all and besides this are also afraid to do it.

Contamination level of the engine depends foremost in the use conditions and mileage. Dust and dirt fall under the bonnet making this area look ugly and sometimes also causing additional problems to the electronic components.

The reason being contamination deposits that when becoming wet will act as conductors and thus may have a negative impact on the operation of some assemblies. Another and not less important advantage of an engine wash is the fact that the top surface, or to be more precise, the upper part of the battery is also cleaned. If a battery is dirty, leakage current may be generated in the battery and the battery can be unintentionally discharged and let you down in the most inconvenient moment.

Tip: take more time for washing the engine, never wash a hot engine – you have to let it cool down. The best is to let assemblies and electronic parts dry thoroughly after washing and the car is located in a warm room – this will help to avoid problems with the electronic system.

What you should know of car engine wash:

Do not start the engine before the engine itself and all parts related to it are absolutely dry. It especially concerns electrical parts. In case electrical connections remain wet, the risk to damage the electronic parts of the car increases rapidly.

The engine of a car should be washed with special agents, for instance foam made on the bases of different reagents and alkaline substances. Such washing agents also contain additives that help to prevent oxidation of metal and electrical connectors.

An engine should be washed in three stages:

  • First the dried engine is covered with a special washing agent – a concentrated viscosous emulsifier, which is meant for washing engines and chemical cleaning. This emulsifier is applied on the engine under high pressure. In this way it adheres on all parts of the engine and area under the bonnet and helps to remove easily all contamination and possible spots. This emulsifier gives also excellent protection against rust.
  • The next stage: wash the engine thoroughly with a plenty of water under low pressure.
  • And the last stage: use compressed air and remove excessive water, thereafter treat the engine with a special preservative, that repels water away from all surfaces of the engine. After drying the engine looks new!

Recomendation! Thus trust washing of the engine to specialists.

Frequently Asked Questions of Engine Wash:

How often should the engine be washed?
The engine should be washed when needed but it is not recommended to do it too often. The upper surface of the area under the bonnet may be lightly washed, preferably twice per year – in spring and autumn. It is not advisable to wash the engine in winter, since water penetrating into areas difficult to reach may freeze there and create additional problems.

Why do some car wash services not offer engine washing?
It depends a lot on the skills and availability of special tools.

Should an engine be lacquer coated?
In addition to lacquer coating giving an engine a good appearance, it also has practical advantages. This helps to prevent rust formation and metal oxidation. A thin polymer layer covers the areas under the bonnet, improves their appearance and prevents accumulation of dirt and power sockets will become more moisture resistant.
